“The Last Water Hole West” especially during The Calgary Exhibition and Stampede! For many years we have won the award of “Best Stampede Spirited Club!” Of course there is a great story behind how we are able to claim that award. The painting above covers the entire east wall of the main canteen, but the rest of the canteen bar is built just like a real western saloon. Come on in, take a look and enjoy our superb hospitality. We have Breakfasts and Steak Dinners manned by our branch volunteers as well as enjoy a whole wagon train full of other western style events! We even have our own chuck wagon races every evening!
This cup permanently belongs to Branch 238. Originally, the Calgary Stampede Committee had this cup as a competition between all the Royal Canadian Legion Branches in Calgary. As the number of branches dwindled it was decided to replace it with a wider audience participation and is now entitled “Best Stampede Spirited Club!” The winner now receives an annual plaque – see below.
DON’T FORGET WE ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR ALL STAMPEDE.

Thinking of meal time volunteers, look at the following pictures of Comrade Jim Bisaillon – counting out the beans and spuds so every patron got a fair plateful!
Thanks, Jim for stepping in at the last moment!
